Plan Peisey, France

We are delighted to offer our guests another chance to visit the Hotel La Vanoise again in 2011 following the successful addition of this fine establishment to our 2010 programme.

The two adjacent old villages of Plan Peisey and Villandry are perfectly situated at 1650 metres at the Western end of the huge Les Arcs ski area, and they look out over the pretty valley towards the spectacular scenery of the Vanoise National park and the distant pistes of La Plagne.

Following the construction of the new Vanoise Express cable car a few years ago, the villages have benefited enormously from the huge Paradiski area on their doorstep, and with easy transfers from Aime or Bourg St Maurice the village of Plan Peisey is an ideal venue for Alpine Bridge.

The Hotel La Vanoise is very similar in size and character to the Hotel l'Ancolie that we know so well, and we feel it will be just as popular with our guests. It has 33 bedrooms, and is actively managed in a 'hands on' way by the owners, Muriel and Patrick Villiod.

Hotel La Vanoise

We visited the hotel during the 2009 season and found it to be extremely comfortable throughout with an excellent bar and restaurant serving a wide variety of local and national dishes. There is a very cosy lounge downstairs with a log fire, and which will be given over exclusively to our group for playing bridge and holding seminars. The ski locker room is also in this area. More than 50 guests enjoyed their Alpine Bridge Holiday there in March 2010, and we feel it will be a popular choice again this coming year.

Situated in the old traditional ski village of Plan Peisey at 1650 metres, it is a short stroll away from the local shops and ski hire facility, and yet right next to a main piste enabling guests to ski to and from the back door throughout the season. Most of the local runs are blues or light reds swooping down through the trees, and there are numerous high speed chair lifts to get you around the whole resort.

On leaving the boot room it is just 100 yards down to the main chairlift linking Peisey to Les Arcs, and just a few yards further is the Main Vanoise Express cable car which whisks skiers across to La Plagne in only 4 minutes. Thus, it is ideally suited for the exploration of the whole of the Paradiski area during the week's holiday.

All bedrooms are well furnished in a modern, but traditional way, with 16 double / twin rooms offering a full sized bath and a South facing balcony, with the remaining 17 rooms being situated at the side and rear of the hotel overlooking the piste and ski lifts. These rooms are also doubles / twins but only offer showers and do not have a balcony. The price of these rooms is some £10 per day per person less than the front rooms overlooking the hotel car park and the Mountains beyond.

Muriel and Patrick Villiod have owned the hotel since it was built, and have recently added a superb inside heated swimming pool area complete with saunas, jacuzzis and a fitness room and point out that this is offered to guests free of charge during their stay. Along with their experienced staff they are looking forward to our visit and have promised to look after us well during our time there.

Please note that the hotel does not have a lift, and so is unsuitable for those guests who are unable to climb flights of stairs.

We recommend that you book up early for the March weeks as rooms are limited and will only be available to us until the end of November.
